IndiNature is honoured to be the winner of the Iver Salvesen Award for Combatting Climate Change at the Scottish Land & Estates Helping it Happen Awards 2024

Beautifully crafted: the Iver Salvesen Award for Combatting Climate  Change, at the Scottish Land & Estates, Helping it Happen Awards 2024

The IndiNature team are absolutely delighted to win the Iver Salvesen Award for Combatting Climate Change at the Scottish Land & Estates Helping it Happen Awards 2024.

This means a huge amount to us for the work so far connecting agriculture to the built environment, establishing the IndiNature Mill, achieving industry certifications, and helping grow resilience with the local UK supply chain.

What a night! An outstanding showcase of inspiration, effort and hope from rural Scotland.

Congratulations all Winners and Finalists in the Scottish Land & Estates Helping it Happen Awards 2024

The Award was presented by Henry Salvesen, Iver’s son, alongside Andrew Linehan, Partner at Murray Beith Murray LLP. Our thanks to the Salvesen family and to sponsors Murray Beith Murray LLP, and NatureScot recognising everyone's efforts to mitigate and adapt to climate change.

Our co-founder Scott Simpson remmbers Iver fondly from his time at the Scottish Ecological Design Association (SEDA), so this is especially poignant for us to win this Award. We’ll try to make Iver proud.

It was an inspiring night and showcase of all the incredible effort, innovation and hope across rural Scotland.

Sarah-Jane Laing, Chief Executive of Scottish Land & Estates, commented:

"The inspiring Helping It Happen awards publicly recognise the often unsung heroes in rural Scotland. They beautifully showcase real-life examples of impactful climate action, engaging outdoor education, innovation in business and farming and commendable efforts to promote affordable rural housing.

“These dedicated individuals and organisations play a crucial role in sustaining our thriving rural communities and inspiring others to follow their lead. The awards ceremony was a great night of celebration and we congratulate all the winners and nominees for their much deserved recognition.”

Claudia Rowse, Deputy Director of the Green Economy at NatureScot, added:

“I look forward to judging the Helping It Happen Awards each year, the high standard of entries makes me feel positive about the future of rural Scotland . The inventive approaches we see taken by the finalists in the areas of conservation, farming, land management and tackling climate change are so encouraging. These projects show that by valuing and restoring nature you are both building resilience to climate change while protecting and enhancing the rural economy and businesses.”

IndiNature would like to say a special thanks to South of Scotland Enterprise Zero Waste Scotland The Scottish National Investment Bank for supporting the journey to establishing the IndiNature Mill, securing British Board of Agrément certification & activating the UK supply chain.

Later in October, over 30 Scottish Land & Estates Members visited the IndiNature Mill for a tour of the production process, an early look at new product innovation, and had a go at cutting and fitting industrial hemp insulation.

Thank you all for your energy, enthusiasm and ideas. Let’s see what we can do together!
